You're welcome.
I'm not entirely sure for what. Regardless, you are welcome.

When I first moved to Australia I found myself strolling aisle by aisle through Woolies, just looking. I wanted to know what people ate, because somehow it would help me feel more welcome in a foreign place if I had acquainted myself with the groceries. This was not a conscious act until I went to India, and then in the same year to Thailand, where I found myself, again, scanning the products in the grocer. Now its first on my list when I arrive. I want to know what's for eating.

Did this answer any of that? It may be a different article. Possibly titled, "What did we do before the Supermarket?"

What a great post! It's neat to see the shopping centers of other cultures. I actually could use one of those pig diagrams at my shopping center! The legs hanging above the shopping carts kind of had an ick factor, though. Love the corn drink ... hmmm, wonder what it tastes like!

A pork byproducts aisle.. that's what's been missing from my life. Supermarkets are one thing I always make a point of visiting when in a new country.

I've never really considered the invention and evolution of a modern supermarket...

It's somewhat humorous that Metro, a German chain and easily one of the most Westernized supermarkets in China, displays so clearly the differences between Chinese supermarkets and more "western" ones.
